FAA investigates incident that forced a Delta flight to abort landing
The FAA is investigating an incident that forced a Delta flight to abort a landing after a close call with American Airlines at Boston Logan International Airport on Saturday morning. According to the FAA and flight logs, a Delta Air Lines aircraft from Dallas executed a go-around to avoid an American plane departing from an intersecting runway. Delta Flight 2351’s crew coordinated with air traffic control to perform the maneuver, and a Delta spokesperson said the aircraft, carrying 129 passengers and six crew members, landed safely and deplaned normally. American Airlines and Boston Logan officials directed inquiries to the FAA. The FAA said go-arounds are safe, routine procedures carried out at pilots’ or controllers’ discretion. The report notes the episode follows several recent aviation accidents, including crashes in France, Texas, California, and Missouri.
