Factory workers' flight to England match remembered

Coventry Airport, formerly Baginton, closed earlier this month after about 90 years of operation, ending a chapter tied to Coventry's industrial and aviation heritage. The closure follows a final flight by Take That and replacement by the GreenPowerPark battery and clean energy project valued at about £2.5 billion, expected to create thousands of jobs. A photograph from April 1956 shows a group of around 30 Rolls-Royce factory workers traveling to Hampden Park to see England play Scotland; among them was Stan Aldenton, whose memory reflects the close ties between local aviation workers and the national sport.
