Father, son arrested in killing of 19-year-old found along Georgia creek

Two men were arrested in Putnam County, Georgia, after a 19-year-old man was found shot to death along Rooty Creek. Deputies said Zachary Brandon Smith, of Milledgeville, was discovered at 6:40 p.m. Friday on the creek’s banks about eight miles south of Eatonton off Pea Ridge Road. The sheriff’s office reported Smith was shot multiple times in the chest with a rifle. Investigators identified a witness who led to the alleged shooter, 20-year-old Michael David Ludwick, and his father, 38-year-old Joshua David Ludwick. With help from Morgan and Walton counties, both were arrested at 10:45 p.m. at homes in Madison and charged with murder. The investigation is ongoing.
