First aircraft dismantling project launched in southern China's Hainan FTP
The first aircraft dismantling project in the Hainan Free Trade Port has been launched at the One-Stop Aircraft Maintenance Base. Grand China Aviation Maintenance Co., Ltd., under HNA Technic, leads the effort, which completes Hainan’s aircraft maintenance value chain by enabling dismantling, testing, and refurbishing components for reuse. The move offers environmental and economic benefits, leveraging Hainan FTP’s strategic location as a gateway to the Pacific and Indian Oceans and policies that promote dismantling and recycling of aviation parts. Island-wide special customs operations began in December 2025 to expand zero-tariff coverage. The initiative aims to attract more aviation-related companies, boosting maintenance, logistics, and component trading, per Haikou’s Jiangdong New Area Administration Bureau.
