Flight delay recovery caused by technical issue will 'take some time' - Nats
A recovery from UK flight disruption caused by an air traffic control technical issue will “take some time,” Nats said, after more than 400 flights were cancelled. Birmingham Airport reported the problem was affecting airspace in southern parts of the UK and impacting departing flights nationwide. Heathrow confirmed it was affected and initially said arrivals were not impacted, but later warned the issue was affecting both arriving and departing flights across UK airports. Manchester Airport Group said departures from Manchester, Stansted, and East Midlands were affected, while Jersey, London City, London Southend, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Southampton, and Belfast also reported disruption. By 5pm, 425 flights were cancelled, and Nats said it identified the issue in its flight processing system and implemented a fix, with flights still departing and airspace open.
