Flight school owners accused of taking students' money, facing RICO charges

Two former owners of a Peachtree City flight school have been arrested after investigators alleged missing student funds and misused payments tied to training. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Peachtree City Police announced Friday the arrests of Alex Hamlin, 34, and Harlan Hamlin, 59, both from Peachtree City. Authorities charged them with 20 counts of theft by conversion and one count of violating Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. Complaints began in November 2024 after the school, FLYT Aviation, was sold and students reported financial discrepancies. Investigators said nearly 50 victims came forward during a forensic audit.
