Flydubai co-pilot's chilling 9/11-style plan: Kill captain, fly normally - then crash at Ben Gurion
Israeli media reports, citing details from the interrogation of Hamam al-Hammami—an Omani co-pilot in custody in the United Arab Emirates—say he allegedly selected flydubai for its Tel Aviv flights and planned an attack on a Tel Aviv-bound FZ1073. The alleged plan was to kill the Indian captain, continue the flight normally, obtain landing clearance, then deliberately crash the aircraft into Ben Gurion Airport to delay detection until authorities had little time to respond. Reports also claim he considered alternative targets if he couldn’t reach Ben Gurion, including a Tel Aviv skyscraper or a US military installation in Jordan. The plot reportedly unraveled Sept. 30 when Machchhar was attacked inside the cockpit with an emergency crash axe; crew and others intervened and the aircraft landed safely in Tabuk.
