Former Jets Bust, Ex-1st Rounder Signs With Packers

The Green Bay Packers have signed defensive tackle Mazi Smith to their practice squad, ESPN reported on Monday, October 19. Smith, 25, was born in Michigan near Green Bay and entered the NFL as the No. 26 overall pick in the first round of the 2023 draft. He spent 2.5 years with the Dallas Cowboys before being traded to the Jets in the blockbuster deal for Quinnen Williams in 2025. After failing to make New York’s final roster this offseason, he landed briefly with the Miami Dolphins practice squad and was cut last week. Green Bay now adds Smith as the Packers’ sixth former Jet on roster and practice squad.
