From Gander to Sudbury: Come From Away an inspiring true story
From Gander to Sudbury: Come From Away an inspiring true story spotlights the stage musical Come From Away, described as a New York Times Critics’ Pick and based on real events during Sept. 11, 2001. The show recounts how 7,000 airline passengers were stranded in Gander, Newfoundland, after 38 planes were diverted to the small town. With about 10,000 residents, the community opened homes, schools, and other public spaces to care for the unexpected guests. Created by Canadian writers Irene Sankoff and David Hein, the musical has earned international acclaim and focuses on compassion, resilience, and human connection. The YES Theatre production is scheduled to run until Aug. 8, with tickets and additional information available through yestheatre.com.
