Frontier Airlines exits major NY airport after 2 years

Frontier Airlines is ending its remaining JFK service, with the last route from New York scheduled to be canceled by Oct. 5. The low-cost carrier confirmed it will stop flights between John F. Kennedy International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, marking a full retreat from JFK just over two years after it began operating there. Frontier entered JFK in June 2024 as part of a network expansion that never matched early expectations, at one point serving up to eight U.S. cities from the airport. The airline cited demand, seasonality, operating costs, and other factors, without pinpointing the specific cause. Frontier will keep flying from LaGuardia and Newark, including routes to Atlanta, Orlando and Dallas-Fort Worth, and says it could evaluate a return to JFK later. Passengers booked after Oct. 5 can seek refunds if they can’t rebook.
