Furuno Unveils New SOLION-100 Terminal for Iridium GMDSS

Furuno will offer its new SOLION-100 terminal for Iridium GMDSS, combining multiple maritime safety functions into a single Iridium Certus 100-based unit. The SOLION-100 integrates GMDSS, Ship Security Alert System (SSAS) and Long-Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) capabilities for both newbuild and retrofit vessels. Iridium Communications said the terminal is built on its Iridium Certus 100 technology. The announcement was made Sept. 1, 2026, from Hamburg, Germany, positioning the system as a consolidated platform for ship communications and tracking. Furuno is the company marketing the terminal for maritime safety.
