Gatwick Airport flights grounded after plane stuck on runway

Gatwick Airport temporarily grounded flights after an aircraft became stuck on the runway, halting operations for nearly an hour on Friday afternoon. A Gatwick spokesperson said the runway was closed due to a technical issue involving a departing vehicle. The airport reported that the runway stayed closed for about 50 minutes while the aircraft was towed away, before reopening shortly afterward. The spokesperson emphasized that “safety and security” remain the airport’s top priority. The disruption caused delays during the closure window, but services resumed soon after the towing operation was completed.
