Germany plans anti-sabotage shield after airport drone attack, Bild reports

Germany is developing a broader package of measures to defend against drone attacks, cyber intrusions and other forms of Russian sabotage after a failed drone attack on an airport last month, Bild am Sonntag reported. Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt told the newspaper that “hybrid attacks” have become part of daily reality, adding that Germany will “defend and protect ourselves.” The report, citing the German interior ministry, says mobile drone defence capabilities will be expanded, with rapidly deployable counter-drone units stationed in cities to protect airspace above critical transport hubs and government districts. It also mentions legal authority for operators of critical infrastructure to actively fend off drones and a proposed “cyberdome” of digital sensors to detect attempted hacking.
