Wasn't my friend': Former New Mexico AG Gary King distances himself from Epstein
Former New Mexico Attorney General Gary King, 71, says his ties to Jeffrey Epstein have been exaggerated, and he claims the legislative panel investigating Epstein has not contacted him. The New Mexican previously reported in March that King had more interaction with Epstein after the financier’s guilty plea for a child sex crime than was known, citing U.S. Department of Justice emails. King acknowledged meeting Epstein for tea in Santa Fe in 2010, accepting campaign donations from Epstein’s companies in 2014, and flying on a private jet Epstein helped charter that year while he ran for governor. In interviews this week, King said he met Epstein only once and denied knowing about the donations or the chartered flight. A state criminal investigation is ongoing, and King said he expected to testify but hasn’t.
