Great Helen Duck Race offers $5,000 prize, helps local families - Now Georgia

The 11th Annual Great Helen Duck Race will take place Oct. 24 in Helen, Georgia, with 3,000 rubber ducks floating down the Chattahoochee River. The event, held during the final weekend of Oktoberfest, starts at 4 p.m. at Paul’s Margarita Deck, with the finish line near the Helen Festhalle. The first duck to cross wins a $5,000 cash prize for its sponsor, while second and third places receive prizes worth more than $1,000 and $500 respectively. Every duck adoption helps support Family Promise of White & Habersham, which aids families facing homelessness or housing instability. Duck adoptions cost $10 or $40 for a raft of five.
