Haunting final words of pilot as plane suddenly disappeared
Haunting final words of pilot as plane suddenly disappeared after investigators revealed a last transmission from a missing Boeing 737 cargo aircraft over the Arabian Sea. Contact was lost with the K2 Airways plane, reported to have at least five people onboard, as it rapidly descended off Pakistan on Tuesday. A major search located wreckage about 12 hours after the aircraft went missing roughly 80 minutes into a two-hour flight. The Civil Aviation Authority said the crew reported a navigation system issue at 9:18pm local time while flying a route from Sharjah, UAE, to Karachi, and radar data later showed a rapid descent and sharp change in direction around 9:21pm, after which both radar and radio contact were lost 155 nautical miles west of Karachi. Reuters reported flight tracking data showing an unusually steep descent, with the final transmitted point at about 1,100 feet above sea level. The remains were found over 50 miles south of Ormara. The Boeing 737-400 had previously been delivered to Russia’s Aeroflot in 1999.
