Historic aircraft to fly over Cotswold village fete - here's when
Historic aircraft will headline the Cotswold village fete, offering a living link to Britain's WWII past. The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) will fly over Guiting Power today, June 20, between 12:40 p.m. and 1:10 p.m., weather permitting. Its current display lineup includes an Avro Lancaster bomber, six Supermarine Spitfires, two Hawker Hurricanes, a Douglas C‑47 Dakota, and two de Havilland Chipmunks. The BBMF is a Royal Air Force historic aircraft unit dedicated to preserving, maintaining, and flying some of the most iconic aircraft of the Second World War. Flights are conducted by serving RAF pilots and supported by specialist engineers who maintain the planes to airworthy standards. The appearance at Guiting Power aligns with the BBMF’s mission to memorialize the aircrew and ground crew who fought in the Battle of Britain and throughout WWII. The display offers spectators an up-close view of rare aircraft and the engineering behind airworthiness. Organisers urge attendees to arrive early for the best vantage points, while noting that the route and timing can be affected by weather or airspace restrictions. The fete in the Gloucestershire village is a popular community event that blends local culture with an appreciation of military history.
