A woman in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, died after attempting to give birth at home while watching a YouTube video on how to deliver, according to the BBC Somali report. The woman reportedly did not go to a hospital or seek medical advice. Her daughter survived and is currently receiving treatment in a hospital. Police filed a case against her husband, though they said no arrests have been made. Health officials investigating the case found the couple had delivered a girl about six years earlier via surgery, after which they decided to try a natural birth this time. The report says Shashikala gave birth on June 23 at home, deteriorated due to severe bleeding afterward, and was transferred first to a private hospital near Coimbatore and later to government medical college hospitals, before her death on June 28. The husband reportedly assisted by watching the YouTube video during the delivery.
