Huge jet crash at airport as two killed after aircraft bursts into fireball

A Gulfstream G200 business jet, US-registered N318JF, crashed at La Romana International Airport in the Dominican Republic after declaring an emergency about 16 nautical miles southwest of the airport. The jet skidded off the runway and erupted into a large fireball as it broke apart; both crew members were killed. Local media identified the victims as American nationals Erick Javier Diago and Rudy Ghazal; no passengers were aboard. The aircraft was owned by Aibonito Aviation LLC of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Dominican authorities said emergency protocols were activated and investigators would determine the cause. The Civil Aviation Institute and the Aviation Accident Investigation Commission are leading the inquiry.
