Identities Revealed of 2 Brothers Who Died After Small Plane Crashed into Tennessee Cornfield Miles from Their Home
Investigators identified two brothers who died after their small plane crashed into a Tennessee cornfield, about eight miles from their home airstrip. The Warren County Sheriff's Department said the airplane departed from a private strip in the Viola community, and the victims were named as Brian Stuart Ramsey, 69, and Keith Warren Ramsey, 65. While records show the plane was registered to Brian, officials have not confirmed which brother was piloting at the time of the crash. The preliminary investigation indicates the aircraft left the strip, struck a tree shortly after takeoff, and did not reach Warren County Memorial Airport. Video from the takeoff shows an apparent contact with something as the aircraft departed, a detail corroborated by on-scene observations. A family friend said the brothers had recently moved to Viola; a county commissioner recounted hearing a sound like a lawn mower before watching the plane crash. Witness Blaine Wilcher, nearby, described gusty conditions with winds reported as 18 to 25 mph and up to 30 mph at times. The NTSB is leading the investigation as authorities work to determine a cause.
