Incredibly difficult time': Winder police sergeant found dead at home, department says
The Winder Police Department said Sgt. Daniel Evans was found dead at his home on Friday morning, marking a loss for the agency and the community. Officials reported that Evans had served on the force for 24 years, and the department issued a statement asking for prayers for his wife, Danielle, along with his family, friends, and fellow officers. Georgia Rep. Mike Collins, whose 10th District includes Winder, also posted condolences on social media, urging the public to join in prayer for Evans’s loved ones, colleagues, and the community as they mourn. The police department did not release the cause of death. Funeral arrangements are expected to be shared with the public once they are finalized. The announcement was made by Atlanta News First and reflects the department’s ongoing process for next steps following Evans’s death.
