Inmates charged in Coffee County prison stabbings

A Georgia grand jury indicted 16 prison inmates after a violent series of stabbings at the Coffee Correctional Facility in South Georgia, according to state officials. Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr announced the charges, tied to an incident that occurred on Dec. 13, 2025. Investigators said all 16 defendants were in custody at the prison and were members of the Bloods criminal street gang. The state’s special prosecution unit presented evidence to the grand jury on June 18, leading to formal indictments. Prosecutors allege the gang members stabbed and assaulted multiple inmates inside the correctional center, and the victims suffered critical injuries that required transfer for life-saving medical care. Among those charged, 19-year-old Immanuel Scott faces two counts of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated battery, and multiple additional counts including violations related to the street gang act and rioting in a penal institution.
