Investigators Seek Motive for FlyDubai Cockpit Attack
xCruzo Brief
Investigators are working to determine what motivated an Omani co-pilot to attack the cockpit during FlyDubai Flight 1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv, forcing an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a TV interview that the attacker underwent “Islamist radical indoctrination,” citing information from the man’s “personal information,” though he offered no further details. Israel’s passenger Yaniv Hayoun, who helped subdue the co-pilot, said the attacker yelled “Kill me! Kill me!” in English. The wounded pilots were moved from Saudi Arabia to the Emirates. Authorities are also examining how a weapon got into the cockpit.
