Italian airline NEOS expands flights to Cuba with Rome-Holguin route
Italian airline NEOS expands flights to Cuba by launching a Rome–Holguin service, aiming to strengthen connectivity between Italy and eastern Cuba. The route was inaugurated July 2 at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (Fiumicino) in Rome, with Ambassador Jorge Luis Cepero, Raffaello Biselli (advisor for Productive Activities of the Municipality of Fiumicino), and NEOS Commercial Director Aldo Sarnataro in attendance. Cepero said the new route is a “significant step” for ties between the two countries and supports tourism exchange, highlighting Holguín’s beaches, natural landscapes, and cultural heritage. NEOS’ Sarnataro stated that shared objectives and willingness to work together are key to developing opportunities for connection. Federico Scriboni, Rome Airports aviation business development director, said the flight enriches Rome’s long-haul options to the Caribbean. The ceremony also featured a photo exhibition for “Unique Cuba.” The article notes challenges tied to the tightening U.S. embargo and fuel restrictions imposed by the U.S.
