Jets Get Bad News on Former Michigan Edge Rusher After Season-Ending Injury
The New York Jets’ early 2026 season took another hit after Sunday’s 23-12 loss to the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field, with edge rusher Braiden McGregor ruled out for the remainder of the year. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that tests confirmed McGregor suffered a torn pectoral muscle. The 25-year-old, in his third NFL season, had signed with New York as an undrafted free agent from Michigan in May 2024 on a three-year, $2.85 million contract through 2026. Before the injury, he was a rotational edge rusher and special teams contributor, playing 24.1% of defensive snaps entering Week 4. The Jets were also affected as edge rusher Kingsley Enagbare was inactive with a knee injury. After struggling in run defense—Chicago ran 89 plays for 492 yards—the Jets fell to 1-3.
