Jets Lose 3 Players for the Season After Deadline News

The New York Jets placed three veterans on injured reserve for the rest of the 2026 season, announcing the moves on Sunday, August 30. Veteran linebacker Mykal Walker, running back Chip Trayanum, and cornerback Tre Brown were all ruled out after being placed on IR before or on cutdown day without a “designation to return.” Walker had been expected to miss two to three weeks with a calf injury before his status changed. Trayanum suffered a neck injury during the Jets’ preseason finale against the New York Giants after the first-half play where Cade Klubnik handed him the ball. Brown also sustained a finger injury in the Jets-Giants game. The Jets retain roster flexibility, with waiver and possible IR-return options elsewhere.
