Keenum makes 'ceremonial first pitch' for the Bears before Bagent takes over at QB against the Jets
xCruzo Brief
Case Keenum threw the first pitch and Tyson Bagent took over the rest as the Chicago Bears beat the New York Jets 23-12 at Soldier Field. Keenum started at quarterback but was replaced after one play, with coach Ben Johnson describing it as a “ceremonial first pitch” that “hand[ed] off the torch.” After Keenum’s opening pass to D’Andre Swift for a 2-yard gain, Bagent ran the offense behind center. Caleb Williams was out for a second straight week after injuring his right hamstring on Sept. 20. Bagent finished 25 of 34 for a career-high 268 yards, with an interception plus three more picks nullified by penalties, as Chicago improved to 3-1.
