Kenmore Air to resume flights Saturday after fiery floatplane crash

Kenmore Air will resume flights Saturday after one of its floatplanes crashed in the San Juan Islands. The operator said 11 people, including the pilot, were on board, and everyone was rescued. Flights were canceled on Friday, the day after the July 23 incident, as the airline managed the immediate aftermath. The aircraft was a Dehaviland DHC-3 Turbine Otter that went down near Sucia Island at about 5:30 p.m. on July 23. Kenmore Air said it would contact passengers affected by the cancellations to rebook or receive refunds. The cause of the crash remains unknown. The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board confirmed it is investigating but does not plan to send an investigator to the scene.
