Kuwait International Airport Is Open Today as Flights Resume, but Terminal 1 Remains Closed for Repairs
Kuwait International Airport is open today as flights resume, but Terminal 1 remains closed for repairs after months of disruptions. The airport has gradually restarted operations with Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways running scheduled flights while one of its main terminals stayed shut for structural repairs. Kuwait Airways is using Terminal 4 and Jazeera Airways operates from Terminal 5, with largely normal schedules during the phased recovery. Terminal 1, historically the primary international facility, was closed indefinitely after serious damage and no firm reopening date has been announced. The situation followed the government’s precautionary airspace closure on February 28 amid regional conflict and drone attacks, which had suspended all flights to and from Kuwait International Airport. Airspace reopened on April 23 and operations resumed in phases on April 26; Terminal 1 briefly reopened for international traffic on June 1 before being hit again on June 3, suffering further severe damage.
