Least two dead in Russian border regions after Ukrainian drone attacks
At least two people were killed in Russia’s border regions after Ukrainian drone attacks overnight, with multiple industrial sites damaged, according to local authorities and media on Friday. Ukraine has targeted Russia’s energy infrastructure for months, and Russian officials said the strikes have contributed to fuel shortages across the country. Russian President Vladimir Putin said the attacks are intended to sow discord among the public. In parallel, Ukrainian officials said four people were killed and 10 injured in Russian overnight attacks on Ukraine. Valentin Demidov, mayor of Belgorod, said a woman died in a car after being injured by shrapnel and that water and power were disrupted in the city, about 40 km from the Ukraine border. Other reports cited deaths in Bryansk and a fire at an industrial site in Smolensk with no injuries.
