Longmont to review $1.6 million airport reconstruction grant package
Longmont City Council will preview on Tuesday a package of state and federal aviation grants that would fund reconstruction of deteriorating pavement at Vance Brand Municipal Airport. The proposal focuses on two taxilanes—Taxilanes AA and A1A—paved paths used for aircraft movement between hangars and other facilities, located northeast of the main general aviation apron. No final action is scheduled Tuesday; the resolutions are slated for first reading and discussion only, with any ordinance vote to occur later. The project is estimated at about $1.66 million, with roughly 95% covered by federal funding and the remainder split between the state and the city. One resolution would accept a $41,604 grant from Colorado Department of Transportation, matched by $41,607 from the city’s airport fund. Additional funding includes up to $412,763 from the FAA Airport Improvement Program and up to $313,470 from the FAA Airport Infrastructure Grant program created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, following $1.581 million already allocated for design and engineering.
