Major airport to shut for one month - Ryanair and easyJet flights affected
Naples Capodichino Airport in Italy will close for a month in November as part of major renovations designed to increase passenger traffic. The hub handles about 13 million travellers each year, a figure expected to climb to 17.3 million by 2035, but November footfall is expected to drop while airlines are affected by the shutdown. The upgrade program includes runway refurbishment, a second terminal for non-Schengen flights (including routes to the UK), new aircraft stands, expanded cargo and logistics areas, a new hotel, and road and underground connections. The surrounding area will also be redeveloped. GESAC says the airport will close in November 2026 for extensive runway upgrades under safety regulations. easyJet operates from London Gatwick and Ryanair from London Stansted, Manchester and Edinburgh. During the closure, travellers should use Salerno-Pontecagnano Airport, reopening on November 30, with an €12 shuttle and a £5 train option to Salerno.
