Major alcohol supplier stocked in Tesco enters administration with 27 jobs lost

Amber Beverage Group UK (ABG UK), a long-time distributor of wine and spirits that supplied major UK supermarkets including Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Co-op, has entered administration and stopped trading, according to reports. The collapse follows failed attempts to save the business after 27 years in operation. On Oct. 19, Danny Dartnaill and Tim Townley of BDO were appointed joint administrators. BDO said efforts to sell ABG UK as a going concern were not successful. Most of the company’s 27 employees were made redundant immediately, though some staff will remain briefly to support administration.
