Man cut off diver's air supply after dispute over lobster fishing spot in Miami, report says

A man accused of cutting off a diver’s air supply after a dispute over a lobster fishing spot in Miami was arrested Tuesday, authorities said. Michael Joseph Simpson, 51, faces a charge of attempted murder. The report says that on July 29 around 5:30 a.m., the victim was taken by boat to a known lobster diving location for the two-day Lobster Sport Season. As the diver prepared, another vessel approached at high speed and anchored about 10 feet away, triggering a verbal argument over the spot. After Simpson became angry about a juvenile warning near the diver’s Brownie Third Lung breathing device, he allegedly turned it off, cutting the victim’s air.
