Man died after 'severe turbulence' on Singapore Airlines flight

Linda Kitchen, 74, has begun legal action against Singapore Airlines after her husband, Geoff Kitchen, 73, died following “severe turbulence” on a London Heathrow–to–Singapore Airlines flight in May 2024. Her lawyers say the aircraft suddenly dropped about 6,000 feet, fatally injuring Geoff, while Linda broke her back and is seeking damages through the High Court for specialist support. The incident occurred over Myanmar, and the flight later diverted to Bangkok, Thailand, for an emergency landing. Kitchen said turbulence had been felt earlier over Europe and the ocean, with the main shock hitting about 10 hours into the journey. During the drop, she said Geoff fell on top of her and CPR began onboard.
