Military says it destroyed 5 Iranian oil tankers after attacks on Navy warship

The U.S. military said it destroyed five Iranian oil tankers on Tuesday after what it described as renewed attacks on American warships. The strikes were followed by Iran launching missiles toward U.S. targets in Jordan, according to Iranian state-run media. Jordan reported intercepting 18 ballistic missiles aimed at its territory and said two others fell in uninhabited areas, with no reported casualties. Jordan hosts U.S. forces, making its bases a repeated target. The U.S. said it had struck the tankers after Iran’s Revolutionary Guards targeted a Navy warship with ballistic missiles twice in two days. Washington also imposed new Iran aviation sanctions.
