Minister of Economic Affairs: Supply of Gas and Fuel Stable
Austria’s Minister of Economic Affairs said domestic energy supplies remain stable, addressing concerns amplified by the Iran war and potential disruptions to prices and supply chains. At a round table with Austrian Airlines, Vienna Airport, OMV, storage and energy-industry representatives, the regulator E-Control, AGGM, and energy and science experts, Hattmannsdorfer cited gas-storage levels at 55.3% full, equaling 55.5 terawatt-hours. By winter season start, Austria expects storage of roughly 75–80 TWh for an entire year’s demand, with supply sourced mainly from Norway, the USA, and the United Kingdom. For oil, Austria reduced imports from Kazakhstan to about 45% from around 55%, while increasing supplies from the USA and Guyana. Diesel imports total about 69%, with 71% coming from Germany, and gasoline and diesel prices have fallen 12% and 22% since end-March. Kerosene reserves for summer and autumn are already secured, with around 95% of Vienna Airport’s kerosene demand covered by OMV’s Schwechat refinery. The minister also called for tighter crisis mechanisms and earlier reporting of stock levels.
