MMEA foils RM2.6mil lobster seeds smuggling attempt in Johor

MMEA said it foiled a lobster seed smuggling attempt worth about RM2.6 million at Tanjung Belungkor Jetty near Kota Tinggi in Johor. A patrol detected a suspicious fibre-reinforced plastic vessel at 6:46am, leading to the seizure of 113 polystyrene boxes containing lobster seeds believed to originate from Indonesia and destined for Singapore. The total value, including the boat and a 150-horsepower outboard engine, is RM2.68 million. The case is being investigated under Section 40(1) of the Fisheries Act 1985. MMEA will intensify enforcement in eastern Johor waters, identified as a smuggling route for high-value fisheries resources.
