Moments before horrific crash that killed Fresno family revealed: NTSB

A newly released preliminary NTSB report says a plane crash in Fresno on Sept. 5 that killed an Auberry family of four followed a troubled sequence just before the accident. Investigators said the aircraft aborted an earlier takeoff after the pilot reported a radio issue, then attempted another takeoff and struggled to gain altitude. The NTSB identified the key event as a loss of control in flight during the initial climb. The victims were pilot Danna Eady, 41, her husband Craig Eady, 44, and their sons Pavel and Remus. Surveillance reviewed by investigators shows the family headed to Atwater, California, boarded a Grumman American Aviation Corp. AA-5, returned to troubleshoot the radio problem, then crashed after becoming airborne roughly 1,000 feet from the runway’s departure end. The cause remains undetermined as the investigation continues.
