More A-List: Southwest Airlines Announces Shake-Up To Loyalty Program

Southwest Airlines announced a major overhaul of Rapid Rewards, eliminating the current A-List and A-List Preferred tiers and replacing them with a three-level structure starting January 1, 2027. Members will qualify for Silver, Gold or Platinum, with Platinum including an unlimited Companion Pass. The company says the redesign also adds new milestone rewards, international airline redemptions, airport lounges and improved in-flight connectivity, aligning with its push for more high-value travelers. Southwest said Silver will provide one free checked bag and a 40% earning bonus, Gold will offer two bags and a 60% bonus, and Platinum will include three bags plus a 120% points bonus, along with extra legroom at booking when available.
