New wave of bomb threats hit European airlines and media outlets
A new wave of bomb threats has targeted European airlines and media outlets, marking the third such episode in a week. On Friday, multiple flights to and from Lisbon, Rome, Prague and Sofia were affected, with three aircraft escorted by Hungarian fighter jets, authorities said. In parallel, several high-profile broadcasters and outlets—including Ireland’s public broadcaster RTÉ—were evacuated after threats were made against them, though authorities said no concrete link has been established between the messages toward airlines and those toward the media. Earlier in the week, officials said nearly 30 aircraft and several airports across Europe were impacted, which the UK called a “malicious hoax.” No explosives were found on planes as of Friday.
