New York Jets finally end streak of no interceptions on Sunday

The New York Jets ended a long interception drought on Sunday against the Chicago Bears, finally picking off a pass after 636 attempts. Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick secured the team’s first interception since the 2024 NFL season, intercepting a pass thrown by Tyson Bagent over the middle. Fitzpatrick returned it close to the Bears’ 30-yard line after making the grab at the Jets’ 40-yard line. The Jets entered the 2026 season with defensive momentum—opening 1-0 with a win over the Tennessee Titans—but then dropped their next two games to the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions.
