Two Navy pilots ejected from their T-45C Goshawk trainer jet Tuesday after the aircraft went down, landing safely on farmland in Mississippi. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. near Noxubee County in eastern Mississippi, where both pilots exited the aircraft and were evaluated at a local medical facility. Navy officials did not publicly release the pilots’ names. The pilots belong to Training Air Wing One, based at Naval Air Station Meridian, about 65 miles south of the crash site. The incident is under investigation by Naval Air Training Command, which said the event is being reviewed. The T-45C has served as a trainer for Navy and Marine Corps pilots since the early 1990s, and the service plans to select a replacement in March, with plans to buy 216 new planes. Officials said the crash cause has not been released, and the Naval Air Training Command is handling the investigation.
