Nikolaj Ehlers Enjoys His Day With the Stanley Cup in Denmark
Nikolaj Ehlers enjoys his day with the Stanley Cup in Denmark as the former Winnipeg Jets winger brings hockey’s trophy to Aalborg. The 30-year-old carried Lord Stanley through his hometown on Thursday, then drove the Cup to Sparekassen Danmark Arena, securing it in the passenger seat of a bright yellow Lamborghini before heading to the venue. More than 4,000 fans attended, and Ehlers posed for photos, displayed the trophy, and signed autographs. Aalborg Mayor Lasse Frimand Jensen said the city is proud of Ehlers’ sporting achievements and his family’s contributions. The celebration followed Carolina Hurricanes’ Stanley Cup run, ending with Ehlers scoring the final goal in Game 6—an empty-netter with 68 seconds remaining in a 3-0 win. Frederik Andersen brought the Cup to Denmark the day before.
