NTSB: Possible spotty radio coverage at time of plane crash that killed 2

Preliminary information from the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board suggests the pilot of a small aircraft that crashed Sept. 3 near Dolores Peak may have been flying under visual flight rules while experiencing spotty radio communication with a Denver control center. The NTSB said the plane dropped about 450 feet in less than a minute before striking terrain. A hiker in the area reported windier-than-usual conditions, though the NTSB estimated the aircraft’s speed at about 10.3 mph. The survey flight for Vexall Imaging, involving Cessna T206H aircraft, ended with the deaths of Randy Ramirez and Blake Klobuchar.
