Only 73% Full: American Airlines' 11 Emptiest Transatlantic Routes [See List & Map Here]

American Airlines’ North Atlantic network shows clear unevenness, with 11 of its transatlantic routes running below 80% load factor in the 12 months to June 2026, according to Cirium data. The carrier averaged 85.01% occupancy across its transatlantic flights, but the “emptiest” corridors skew heavily toward the UK. The weakest performer in 2025/26 was Raleigh-Durham (RDU) to London Heathrow (LHR) at 73.3%. Two more of the bottom four also serve Heathrow: JFK to London averaged 75.98% and BOS to London Heathrow 76.29%. JFK to Edinburgh ranked next at 74.78%. Beyond the UK, Charlotte–Munich averaged 77.13%, while LAX–LHR averaged 77.57%.
