An aviation expert offered a theory on the disappearance of a Boeing 737 bound for Pakistan, citing navigation interference and possible rapid depressurization as key elements. The cargo aircraft, operated by Pakistan’s private K2 Airways, abruptly descended on Tuesday at 4:21 pm UTC (2:18 am AEST) after Flightradar24 lost contact. The last transmitted data was at 1,100 feet above sea level, during an extremely steep descent of minus 22,400 feet per minute. Flightradar24 reports navigation system interference shortly after takeoff from Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, while local authorities said the crew reported navigation issues at 4:18 pm UTC and was guided by Karachi Area Control Centre. Data shows a sudden drop of 5,000 feet, a climb of 6,000 feet, and then a sharp descent from 36,550 feet. Former pilot Captain Byron Bailey told SkyNews.com.au the pattern could indicate depressurization and crew incapacitation. The Boeing was built in 1999 and purchased by K2 Airways in 2024, and Bailey said recovery is unlikely in the Arabian Sea near the Iran-Pakistan border.
