Pilot sustains 'serious injuries' in small plane crash into Plymouth pond

A small-plane crash into a pond in Plymouth early this morning left the pilot with serious injuries, Plymouth Fire Chief Neil Foley said. The crash occurred at Curlew Pond, a small body of water within Myles Standish State Forest, at about 7:39 a.m. First responders pulled the pilot from the water with help from members of the Plymouth County Dive Team. Foley said the pilot is being transported to a local hospital, and responders are still investigating whether anyone else was on board. Mass State Police and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation were also on scene. The investigation into what caused the crash is ongoing, and the report indicates more information will be provided as it develops.
