Plane cabin products maker Jamco is pushing to expand its India operations as it ramps engineering, manufacturing and supply chain capacity over the next five years, with the Indian unit expected to be central to the growth. CEO Kate Schaefer told Reuters the company plans to increase capacity two and a half times, while investing $150 million in India. Headcount is set to rise sixfold to 600 employees by 2031, supported by an engineering centre in Bengaluru. Jamco, which supplies premium cabin products for Boeing and Airbus wide-body programs, is also transferring full design authority for 787 galleys and lavatories to India. The company, taken private by Bain Capital last year, is aiming to build a full design hub rather than low-cost engineering, while diversifying suppliers beyond Japan as aerospace supply chains remain stretched. Competition includes demand bottlenecks in business-class seats.
