Plane crashes on Texas highway, killing 1 person

A NetJets-operated Cessna Latitude jet crashed on Loop 20 in Laredo, Texas, killing one person and injuring five others. The six-seat private jet had departed San José del Cabo, Mexico around 6:18 p.m. local time and was bound for Austin before diverting toward Laredo. Flight-tracking data indicate a controlled descent until contact with air traffic control was lost at about 9:58 p.m., roughly two and a half miles short of Laredo International Airport. The aircraft collided with a highway vehicle and broke apart, with the tail separated from the fuselage as flames engulfed the scene. Five officers were injured during the rescue, and federal investigators are on-site.
